25. UNMEE continues to engage both Ethiopia and Eritrea in monitoring and investigating human rights activities in the two countries.

During the armed conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea in 1999 and 2000, many Eritreans who lived in Addis Ababa were forced to return to Eritrea.

23. During the past two years, Ethiopia has hosted some 100,000 refugees, mainly from the Sudan, Somalia and Eritrea, in seven refugee camps.

In addition, UNMEE has recorded and protested several violations by the police and militia of the Protocol Agreement on the Presence of Police and Militia in the Temporary Security Zone, signed between UNMEE and Eritrea on 16 April 2001.

15. Calls on Member States to provide contributions to the Trust Fund, established pursuant to resolution 1177 (1998) and referred to in Article 4 (17) of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed by Ethiopia and Eritrea on 12 December 2000, in order to support the demarcation process;
15 - يدعو الدول الأعضاء إلى تقديم تبرعات إلى الصندوق الاستئماني، المنشأ عملا بالقرار 1177 (1998) والمشار إليه في المادة 4 (17) من اتفاق السلام الشامل الموقع بين إثيوبيا وإريتريا في 12 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2000، من أجل دعم عملية ترسيم الحدود؛

7. Regrettably, there has been no improvement with regard to the difficulties, mentioned in my last reports, experienced by UNMEE staff entering and exiting Ethiopia and Eritrea at the airports in the two capitals.
