والنظام اﻷساسي للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية، الذي يجب أن تسترشد به جميع مداولاتنا بشأن أنشطة الوكالة، يدعو الوكالة إلى تعجيل وتوسيع مساهمة الطاقة الذرية في السلام والصحة والازدهار في العالم أجمع.

"
كما ذكّرت الأمانة المفتشَين بالنظام الأساسي للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية بوصفه الأساس التشريعي لتحليل الطاقة والاقتصاد والبيئة، وبخاصة المادة الثانية منه التي تتعلق بالأهداف والتي تنص على ما يلي: " تعمل الوكالة على تعجيل وتوسيع مساهمة الطاقة الذرية في السلام والصحة والازدهار في العالم أجمع. "

Article II of the IAEA's Statute stipulates that " The Agency shall seek to accelerate and enlarge the contribution of atomic energy to peace, health and prosperity throughout the world. "
تنص المادة الثانية من النظام الأساسي للوكالة على ما يلي: " تعمل الوكالة على تعجيل وتوسيع مساهمة الطاقة الذرية في السلام والصحة والازدهار في العالم أجمع " .

According to its statute, IAEA is to " accelerate and enlarge the contribution of atomic energy to peace, health and prosperity throughout the world " , while ensuring, " so far as it is able, that assistance provided by it or at its request or under its supervision or control is not used in such a way as to further any military purpose " .

"
وتعمل الوكالة باعتبارها الجهة المحورية العالمية المختصة بالتعاون النووي، حيث يُعهَد إليها بمهمة تحقيق هدف مزدوج: " تعجيل وتوسيع مساهمة الطاقة الذرية في السلام والصحة والازدهار في العالم أجمع " ، و " السهر، وسع طاقتها، على ضمان عدم استخدام المساعدة التي تقدمها، أو التي تقدَّم بناءً على طلبها أو تحت إشرافها أو رقابتها، على نحو يخدم أي غرض عسكري.
