The subject under examination in the report of the Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) is the evaluation of the United Nations system support for science and technology in Africa.
١ - إن الموضوع قيد النظر في تقرير وحدة التفتيش المشتركة هو تقييم دعم منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة للعلم والتكنولوجيا في افريقيا.

Based on their assessment and a review of the projects being executed in the African region, the Inspectors have made a number of recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the United Nations system support for science and technology in Africa.
وتقدم المفتشان، على أساس تقييمهما واستعراض للمشاريع الجاري تنفيذها في المنطقة الافريقية، بعدد من التوصيات الرامية الى تعزيز فعالية دعم منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة للعلم والتكنولوجيا في افريقيا.

Some members of the Committee believe that the collective efforts of the United Nations system for institutional capacity-building in science and technology in Africa should be combined with country approaches.
١٣ - يعتقد بعض أعضاء اللجنة أن الجهود الجماعية لمنظومة اﻷمم المتحدة من أجل بناء القدرات المؤسسية في مجالات العلم والتكنولوجيا في افريقيا ينبغي أن تتكامل مع النهج القطرية.

2. Requests the Secretary-General to continue to promote and implement activities in support of science and technology in Africa in the context of the United Nations New Agenda for the Development of Africa in the 1990s;
٢ - تطلب الى اﻷمين العام أن يواصل تعزيز وتنفيذ اﻷنشطة المضطلع بها دعما للعلم والتكنولوجيا في افريقيا في سياق برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الجديد للتنمية في افريقيا في التسعينات؛

وقد نظرت في تقرير وحدة التفتيش المشتركة المعنون " دعم منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة للعلم والتكنولوجيا في افريقيا " )٢( وفي الاستنتاجات والتوصيات الواردة فيه،

1. Takes note of the report of the Joint Inspection Unit entitled " United Nations system support for science and technology in Africa " , 2/ and the comments of the Administrative Committee on Coordination thereon; A/50/125/Add.1-E/1995/19/Add.1, annex.
