٢٤٠ - وتوصي خطة العمل للسنوات الثلاث التي أقرتها الهيئة الفرعية المعنية بالمشورة العلمية التقنية والتكنولوجية بأن تضع اﻷمانة العامة بالتعاون مع المنظمات الحكومية الدولية والوطنية وغير الحكومية توجيها بشأن معايير المناطق البحرية والساحلية المحمية والجوانب التنفيذية المتعلقة بها.

266. In decision VII/5, the Conference of the Parties noted that there were increasing risks to biodiversity in marine areas beyond national jurisdiction and that marine and coastal protected areas were extremely deficient in purpose, numbers and coverage in these areas.

Aspects related to marine and coastal protected areas were to be considered an integral part of the Convention's programme of work on protected areas also agreed upon by the meeting.141
