In accordance with the request made by the Assembly in its resolutions 56/270 and 63/263 that progress reports be submitted annually, section II of the present report provides information on the progress made and issues encountered in the implementation of the project at the Commission since the most recent annual report (A/63/303).
ووفقا لطلب الجمعية الوارد في قراريها 56/270 و 63/263 بتقديم تقرير بصفة سنوية عن التقدم المحرز، يقدم الفرع الثاني من هذا التقرير معلومات عن التقدم المحرز والمشاكل التي ووجهت في تنفيذ هذا المشروع في اللجنة منذ صدور التقرير السنوي الأخير (A/63/303).

4. Also requests the Secretary-General to submit to the General Assembly, at its fiftieth session, a report on the steps taken and on problems encountered in the implementation of the present resolution, and thereafter as may be determined by the Assembly.
٤ - تطلب أيضا الى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم الى الجمعية العامة، في دورتها الخمسين، تقريرا عن الخطوات التي اتخذت والمشاكل التي ووجهت في تنفيذ هذا القرار، وأن يقدم تقارير أخرى بعد ذلك حسبما تقرره الجمعية العامة.

While reaffirming the existing mandate of the Commission, the Council decided that the Commission, in assisting the Council in monitoring, reviewing and appraising the progress achieved and problems encountered in the implementation of the outcome of the Summit, should:

(b) To produce and disseminate an annual publication on the progress achieved in implementing the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action and the difficulties and problems encountered in the process of implementation.

The Secretary-General has the honour to transmit to the Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly, as an annex to the present note, the report of the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on the progress made and problems encountered in the quest to achieve a literate world, prepared in pursuance of General Assembly resolution 46/93 of 16 December 1991.

22. During the course of the biennium, information on the progress made and issues encountered in the implementation of the project has been provided in the report of the Secretary-General on the construction of additional office facilities at the Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (A/64/486), which has been submitted to the General Assembly for review at its sixty-fourth session.
