At its thirty-fifth ordinary session, the OAU Assembly of Heads of State and Government requested the Director-General of UNESCO and the Secretary-General of OAU to review the 1968 agreement on cooperation between the two organizations with a view to strengthening it.
وقد طلب مؤتمر رؤساء دول وحكومات منظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية في دورته العادية الخامسة والثلاثين إلى المدير العام لليونسكو واﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية أن يستعرضا اتفاق عام ١٩٦٨ بشأن التعاون بين المنظمتين بهدف تعزيزه.

وردت رسالة من رئاسة مجلس الاتحاد اﻷوروبي واﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية واﻷمين العام لمنظمة المؤتمر اﻹسلامي.

Following the discussion, the President of the Council made a statement to the press (see annex IV) and also drew the attention of the Government of Burundi, the Representative of the Secretary-General, Jean Arnault, and OAU Secretary-General Salim A. Salim.
وفي أعقاب المناقشة، أدلى رئيس المجلس ببيان إلى الصحافة (انظر المرفق الرابع) ووجه كذلك انتباه حكومة بوروندي وممثل الأمين العام جان أرنو والأمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة الأفريقية سالم أحمد سالم.

It also encouraged the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Secretary-General of OAU to continue their efforts to normalize the situation in Burundi, which remained precarious and worrisome. Lastly, it requested the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in close collaboration with the Secretary-General of OAU and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, to mobilize resources for that purpose.

28. The OAU Assembly also requested the Central Organ at the ministerial level and the Secretary-General of OAU, who had visited Burundi several times in the course of 1994, to follow the situation closely and to explore the possibility of military intervention in cooperation with the United Nations, should the situation in Burundi degenerate into massive loss of life and displacement of innocent civilians.
٢٨ - كما طلب مؤتمر قمة منظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية من الجهاز المركزي على المستوى الوزاري واﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية الذي قام بعدة زيارات إلى بوروندي خلال عام ١٩٩٤، بمتابعة الحالة عن كثب واستكشاف إمكانية التدخل العسكري وذلك بالتعاون مع اﻷمم المتحدة، إذا تدهورت الحالة في بوروندي وانطوت على عمليات قتل جماعي وتشريد مدنيين أبرياء.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the OAU Secretary-General co-chaired a regional meeting on refugee issues in the Great Lakes at Kampala in May 1998.
وفي هذا الصدد، شاركت المفوضة السامية لﻷمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين واﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية في رئاسة اجتماع إقليمي عقد في أيار/ مايو ١٩٩٨ في كمبالا بشأن المسائل المتعلقة باللاجئين في منطقة البحيرات الكبرى.

In that regard, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the OAU Secretary-General co-chaired a regional meeting on refugee issues in the Great Lakes region (Kampala, May 1998).
