11. UNU and UPEACE are encouraged to provide assistance to those city councils and prefectures that are willing to host seminars on disarmament and non-proliferation issues for the media, academics, local and national politicians, trade union representatives, religious leaders and the wider public.

The present addendum outlines the many activities undertaken by United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the University for Peace to help developing countries generate the human resources, skills and expertise needed in their own countries and cultures to promote a culture of peace and non-violence within their own societies.

89. The agreement of cooperation between the Government of Costa Rica, the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the University for Peace to create a Latin American centre for dispute settlement was signed on 5 December 2003.

The University's longest and most successful partnership has been its dual-degree programme with American University in Washington, D.C., which focuses on environmental issues in relation to peace and offers students the option of obtaining master's degrees from both American University and the University for Peace in a two-year programme.

The organizers of the conference included the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress, the Albert Schweitzer Institute (Quinnipiac University), the United Nations Development Programme, the Project on Justice in Times of Transition, the Toledo International Centre for Peace, the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute and the University of Peace (Costa Rica).

UNU and UPEACE are encouraged to develop intensive postgraduate and other courses on disarmament and non-proliferation for representatives of all regions of the world, including government officials, legislators, military officers, NGOs, the media and students, working in cooperation with academic and non-governmental institutions that have expertise in designing and implementing such courses.
7 - يجدر بجامعة الأمم المتحدة وجامعة السلام أن تعدا لمرحلة الدراسات العليا دورات دراسية مكثفة بشأن نزع السلاح وعدم الانتشار لتشارك فيها ممثلو جميع مناطق العالم، مما يشمل المسؤولين الحكوميين، وأعضاء الهيئة التشريعية، وضباط الجيش، والمنظمات غير الحكومية، ووسائط الإعلام وذلك بالتعاون مع المؤسسات الأكاديمية وغير الحكومية التي لديها خبرة بإعداد وتنفيذ دورات من هذا القبيل.
