59. As at 1 December, the Mission's police strength stood at 1,098 officers, out of an authorized ceiling of 1,240 officers, which includes 6 United Nations police immigration officers, 479 officers in 4 formed police units and 15 corrections officers.

By its resolution 1609 (2005), the Security Council extended the mandate of the Operation for a period of seven months until 24 January 2006, authorizing an increase in the military and civilian components of UNOCI of up to 850 additional military personnel and of up to a ceiling of 725 civilian police personnel, including three formed police units, and the necessary additional civilian personnel.
