34. The National Defence Strategy of 11 February 2014, made public in July, defines the role of the army as protecting territorial integrity, disaster response and assisting the police in national emergencies.

Member States, the United Nations system and humanitarian actors are encouraged to take account of the principles and minimum standards outlined in the revised Sphere Project handbook, Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response, in their humanitarian actions and Disaster responses.

Supporting regional action on climate and Disaster risk, the Pacific Platform took an important step towards the adoption of the Strategy for Climate and Disaster Resilient Development in the Pacific, which sets out three regional goals to strengthen risk management; support low carbon development; and strengthen disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
وبدعم العمل الإقليمي المتعلق بأخطار تغير المناخ والكوارث، اتخذ منهاج عمل منطقة المحيط الهادئ خطوة مهمة نحو اعتماد استراتيجية التنمية القادرة على التكيف مع المناخ ومواجهة الكوارث في المحيط الهادئ، التي تحدد ثلاثة أهداف إقليمية لتعزيز إدارة المخاطر؛ ودعم التنمية منخفضة الانبعاثات الكربونية؛ وتعزيز التأهب للكوارث والاستجابة لها والتعافي منها.

13. Multi-stakeholder partnerships within and outside the United Nations system have explored the cross-sectionalities between disability and other issues, such as gender, child poverty, mental health, peace and security, and emergency and Disaster management.
13 - استكشفت الشراكات القائمة بين أصحاب المصلحة المتعددين داخل منظومة الأمم المتحدة وخارجها نقاط التقاطع بين الإعاقة وجملة من المسائل الأخرى، كنوع الجنس، وفقر الأطفال، والصحة العقلية، والسلام والأمن، وإدارة حالات الطوارئ ومواجهة الكوارث().

18. The General Assembly advanced the gender mainstreaming strategy in a number of other areas, including, inter alia, cooperation against the world drug problem, assistance to refugees, natural disasters and Disaster risk reduction, and the international financial system and development.

Encourage the reporting on progress of the Post-2015 Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction to be linked with the new Strategy for Climate and Disaster Resilient Development in the Pacific to reduce the reporting burden on Pacific Island Countries and Territories, being mindful of national reporting obligations.
" 5- نشجع الإبلاغ عن التقدم المحرز في إطار الحد من مخاطر الكوارث لما بعد عام 2015، المراد ربطه بالاستراتيجية الجديدة للتنمية القادرة على التكيف مع المناخ ومواجهة الكوارث في منطقة المحيط الهادئ، من أجل الحد من عبء الإبلاغ الواقع على عاتق بلدان وأقاليم جزر المحيط الهادئ، مع مراعاة التزامات الإبلاغ الوطنية.

" 11. Urge the full and meaningful involvement of youth, women and persons with disabilities in gender balanced delegations to the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, and in the development and implementation of the Post-2015 Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Strategy for Climate and Disaster Resilient Development in the Pacific at the global, regional and national levels.
" 11- نحث الإشراك الكامل والهادف للشباب والنساء والأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة في الوفود المتوازنة من الناحية الجنسانية في مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة العالمي الثالث المعني بالحد من مخاطر الكوارث، وفي وضع وتنفيذ إطار الحد من مخاطر الكوارث لما بعد عام 2015، واستراتيجية التنمية القادرة على التكيف مع المناخ ومواجهة الكوارث في منطقة المحيط الهادئ على الأصعدة العالمي و الإقليمي والوطني.

" 18. Recommend the Strategy for Climate and Disaster Resilient Development in the Pacific be tabled for consideration and endorsement by the governing councils of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (September 2014) and Secretariat of the Pacific Community (November 2014) and eventual approval by Pacific Island Forum Leaders in 2015.

While the international community is being challenged to deal with such pressing tasks as poverty, hunger, natural disaster and global warming, a colossal amount of the world's wealth is being spent on armament.
