The audit was conducted primarily to enable the Board to form an opinion as to whether the financial statements presented fairly the financial position of UNICEF as at 31 December 2007 and the results of its operations and cash flows for the financial period then ended in accordance with the United Nations system accounting standards.

He recalled that according to the auditors, the annual financial statements presented a true and fair view of the net assets, financial position and results of the operations of the Tribunal and that it was in conformity with the principles of proper accounting and with the Financial Regulations and Rules of the Tribunal and legislative authority.
