In that connection, my delegation hopes that the embargoes imposed by the United States of America against Cuba and against numerous other States, including my country, the Syrian Arab Republic, will be lifted.

In the same vein, my delegation hopes that the United Nations provides the same resources to promoting a lasting settlement in the situations in Sierra Leone, in Angola, in Burundi, between Ethiopia and Eritrea, as well as in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
وبنفس الطريقة يأمل وفدي أن توفر الأمم المتحدة نفس الموارد للنهوض بتسوية دائمة للأوضاع في سيراليون، وفي أنغولا، وفي بوروندي، وبين إثيوبيا وإريتريا، وكذلك في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية.

At the end of this turbulent century and on the eve of what my delegation hopes will be a more peaceful and prosperous new century, the United Nations stands out as the best hope for the future of humankind, international cooperation and solidarity.
في نهاية هذا القرن المليء بالاضطرابات وعشية ما يأمل وفدي أن يكون قرنا جديدا أكثر سلما وازدهارا، تبرز اﻷمم المتحدة بوصفها أفضل أمل لمستقبل البشرية والتعاون والتضامن الدوليين.

Furthermore, as a landlocked, least developed country, my delegation hopes to see the issues and challenges identified in the Almaty and Brussels Programmes of Action receive the highest priority during the review.

In conclusion, my delegation hopes that deliberations in this Committee and at this session of the General Assembly will contribute to advancing the disarmament process a step further towards the ultimate goal of a world free of nuclear weapons.
وختاما، يأمل وفدي أن تسهم المداولات الجارية في هذه اللجنة وفي دورة الجمعية العامة هذه في تقريب عملية نزع السلاح خطوة أخرى من الهدف النهائي المتمثل في إقامة عالم خال من اﻷسلحة النووية.

As far as the NPT is concerned, my delegation hopes that efforts to achieve universality will continue, with the goal of bringing in those countries which have yet to accede to the Treaty.
وفيما يتعلق بمعاهدة عدم الانتشار النووي، يأمل وفدي أن تستمر الجهود الرامية إلى تحقيق العالمية، بغية استقطاب البلدان التي لم تنضم بعد إلى المعاهدة.

In conclusion, my delegation hopes that on entering the twenty-first century the United Nations will be well adapted to the challenges of tomorrow's world.
وفي الختام، يأمل وفدي أن يرى اﻷمم المتحدة لدى دخولها القرن الحادي والعشرين قد هيأت نفسها تماما لمواجهة تحديات عالم الغد.

In this regard, my delegation hopes that the social development perspectives of the major international conferences that have taken place in recent years in Rio, Cairo, Copenhagen and Beijing will be duly incorporated in the follow-up measures.
وفي هذا المضمار، يأمل وفدي أن تدرج بالكامل في إجراءات المتابعة مناظير التنمية الاجتماعية التي أبرزتها المؤتمرات الدولية الرئيسية التي عقدت في السنوات اﻷخيرة في ريو، والقاهرة، وكوبنهاغن وبيجين.

In this respect, my delegation hopes that all embargoes imposed by the United States against Cuba and many other Member States -- including my country, Syria -- will be ended.
وفي هذا الصدد، يأمل وفدي أن ترفع جميع أشكال الحصار المفروضة من قبل الولايات المتحدة على كوبا وعلى العديد من الدول الأخرى الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة، ومنها بلادي سوريا.

ولكن يأمل وفدي أن يتسنى التوصل إلى اتفاق على إطار واسع النطاق للمفاوضات المتعلقة بشأن اﻷلغام البرية المضادة لﻷفراد في مؤتمر نزع السلاح، ينص على نهج مرن شامل.

In tune with the theme for this year, it is my delegation's hope that the General Assembly will continue to remain a strong voice in global governance for many years to come.
وانسجاماً مع موضوع هذه السنة، يأمل وفدي أن تبقى الجمعية العامة صوتاً قوياً في الحوكمة العالمية لسنوات عديدة مقبلة.
