Besides, in this case the decisions of the UN Security Council, in particular Resolution N1716 that urges both parties to comply fully with previous agreements regarding cease-fire and non-use of violence, were completely neglected.
وقد ضُرب بقرارات مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة عرض الحائط، لا سيما القرار 1716 الذي يحث الطرفين على الامتثال تماما للاتفاقات السابقة المتعلقة بوقف إطلاق النار وعدم استخدام العنف.

He therefore urged the parties to commence formal negotiations without further delay.
ومن ثم فإنه يحث الطرفين على بدء مفاوضات رسمية دون أي مزيد من الإبطاء.

This new unilateral act constitutes, in particular, a new and overt violation of resolution 31/49 of the General Assembly of the United Nations which calls upon the two parties to refrain from taking decisions that would imply introducing unilateral modifications in the situation while the islands are going through the process recommended in the resolutions adopted by the said General Assembly.
