371- وفيما يتعلق بادعاءات الكويت بشأن الأضرار التي أصابت بيئتها البحرية، يذكر العراق أن المنطقة الساحلية في الكويت كانت عرضة لإنتاج كميات ضخمة من النفط ولأنشطة الشحن والنقل على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي.

In addition, Iraq states that the environment of the Persian Gulf is conducive to the biodegradation of oil compounds in the marine environment, and that such biodegradation is a " well recognized factor of self-purification " .
