It has not been an easy year for our Secretary-General.
ولم تكن هذه السنة سهلة بالنسبة ﻷميننا العام.

And to our Secretary-General I wish to convey our gratitude for his sustained stewardship of the Secretariat, and more particularly for his report on the Organization’s work.
وأود أن أعرب ﻷميننا العام عن امتناننا لقيادته الدؤوبة لﻷمانة العامة ولتقريره عن أعمال المنظمة بصفة خاصة.

I would also like to convey my appreciation to our Secretary-General, Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, for his ongoing outstanding work for our Organization since beginning of his term.
كذلك أود أن أعرب عن تقديري ﻷميننا العام السيد بطرس بطرس غالى ﻷعماله الجارية المتميزة من أجل منظمتنا منذ بداية ولايته.

We should like also to express our gratitude to the secretariat and to our Secretary-General, without whom it would have been impossible for this forum to work effectively.
نود أيضا أن نعرب عن امتناننا لﻷمانة العامة وﻷميننا العام الذي دونه ما كان يمكن لهذا المحفل أن يعمل بفعالية.

This is the first regular session of the General Assembly for our Secretary-General Kofi Annan since his appointment to that high office.
هذه هي الدورة العادية اﻷولى للجمعية العامة بالنسبة ﻷميننا العام السيد كوفي عنان منذ تعيينه في هذا المنصب السامي.

At the same time, we are also grateful to our Secretary-General, Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, for his determined efforts, which have given new vigour to the activities of this forum.

We should like in this connection to express our profound appreciation to our Secretary-General and to the States Members of our Organization.
ونود، في هذا الصدد، أن نعرب عن تقديرنا العميق ﻷميننا العام وللدول اﻷعضاء في منظمتنا.

We are indeed deeply indebted to our Secretary-General, Mr. Kofi Annan, who has tried to inject new vitality into the United Nations and who has, under difficult circumstances, continued to make a difference at the helm of the Organization.
ونحن مدينون حقا ﻷميننا العام السيد كوفي عنان الذي يحاول تنشيط اﻷمم المتحدة ويواصل، في ظل ظروف صعبة، جهوده لتوجيه دفة المنظمة.

Furthermore, the report offers our Secretary-General a new opportunity to present the initial results of his efforts to restore to the Organization the means and the dynamism that public opinion expects it to have.
وعلاوة على ذلك، يتيح التقرير ﻷميننا العام فرصة أخرى لكي يعرض النتائج اﻷولية التي أسفرت عنها جهوده مــن أجــل استعادة المنظمة للوسائل والنشاط اللذين يتوقعهما منها الرأي العام.

I should also like to record the deep gratitude of the Swazi nation to our Secretary-General, Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, and to the staff of the Secretariat for their untiring efforts in meeting the many challenges that face our Organization as we prepare to enter a new millennium.
وأود كذلك أن أسجﱢل عميق امتنان اﻷمة السوازية ﻷميننا العام السيد بطرس بطرس غالى ولموظفي اﻷمانة العامة على جهودهم الدؤوبة في التصدي للتحديات العديدة التي تواجه منظمتنا ونحن نتأهب للدخول في ألفية جديدة.

Last but not least, I should like to reaffirm our strong praise and encouragement for our Secretary-General and his staff for their highly laudable work on proposed reforms of the United Nations aimed at making our Organization an even more credible and efficient body, capable of meeting the challenge of the next century.
وأخيرا وليس آخرا، أود أن أكرر التأكيد ﻷميننا العام ومعاونيه، على ثنائنا العاطر وتشجيعنا القوي، على العمل الممتاز الذي أنجزوه بشأن اﻹصلاحات المقترحة لﻷمم المتحدة، بغية جعل منظمتنا هيئة أكثر مصداقية وأعلى كفاءة، وقادرة على مواجهة تحديات القرن المقبل.

Mr. Wilmot (Ghana): I stand in the name of the African Group, which I have the honour and the privilege to chair for the month of July, to convey our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our Secretary-General for submitting to this Assembly his measures and proposals for the reform the United Nations Organization.
