The meeting focused on studying ways of supporting and assisting Iraqi émigrés and displaced persons and discussed a proposal by the artiste, Nassir Shamma, to launch a campaign, under the auspices of the Arab League, to collect governmental and non-governmental donations to assist Iraqi émigrés, displaced persons and host Arab States.
وقد ركز الاجتماع على بحث سبل دعم ومساعدة المهجرين والنازحين العراقيين، وناقش مقترحا تقدم به الفنان نصير شمه لإطلاق حملة تحت رعاية الجامعة العربية لجمع التبرعات الحكومية وغير الحكومية لمساعدة المهجرين والنازحين العراقيين في العراق والدول العربية المضيفة.

3. To take note of the efforts of the Iraqi Government to alleviate the burdens of Iraqi émigrés, to prepare the necessary means for their speedy return to their own country and, at the same time, to call upon the Iraqi Government to provide further essential support to assist Iraqi émigrés in host Arab States and provide them with the means of a decent life;

245. On 23 October 2007, the Secretariat-General received a memorandum from the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar, requesting that it be provided with a list of names of Arab States which have contributed to the fund in support of Iraqi émigrés in host Arab States.
245 - كما تلقت الأمانة العامة مذكرة من المندوبية الدائمة لدولة قطر بتاريخ 23/10/2007، ترجو فيها موافاتها بقائمة بأسماء الدول العربية التي ساهمت في حساب دعم المهجرين العراقيين في الدول العربية المضيفة.

248. Also on 24 October 2007, I sent letters to the directors of the Red Crescent Societies of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar to consider ways of supporting the Arab campaign for solidarity with Iraqi émigrés in host Arab States.
248 - كما وجهتُ رسائل بتاريخ 24/10/2007 إلى رؤساء جمعيات الهلال الأحمر في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ومملكة البحرين ودولة قطر، للنظر في سبل دعم الحملة العربية للتضامن مع المهجرين العراقيين في الدول العربية المضيفة.

243. On 18 September 2007, I addressed a letter to the ministers of foreign affairs, informing them that the account for the support of Iraqi émigrés in host Arab States has opened and urging them to strengthen the Arab contribution. On 19 November 2007, the Secretariat-General circulated the details of additional accounts opened with various banks to facilitate the receipt of donations.
243 - وجهتُ بتاريخ 18/9/2007 رسالة إلى السادة وزراء الخارجية، للإفادة بفتح الحساب الخاص بدعم المهجرين العراقيين في الدول العربية المضيفة، وحثهم على تعزيز المساهمات العربية في هذا الإطار، كما قامت الأمانة العامة بتاريخ 19/11/2007 بتعميم بيانات الحسابات الإضافية التي تم فتحها لدى عدد من البنوك لتسهيل تلقي التبرعات.

244. On 22 October 2007, the Secretariat-General received a memorandum from the Permanent Delegation of the State of Kuwait to the League, requesting that it be provided with the names of States which have made donations in support of Iraqi émigrés and the amount of these donations in order for the State of Kuwait to consider its donation in respect of the joint appeal by UNHCR and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
244 - تلقت الأمانة العامة مذكرة من المندوبية الدائمة لدولة الكويت لدى الجامعة بتاريخ 22/10/2007، ترجو فيها تزويدها بأسماء الدول التي تبرعت لدعم المهجرين العراقيين والقيمة المتبرع بها، وذلك بهدف دراسة تبرع دولة الكويت في النداء المشترك الذي توجهه المفوضية العليا لشؤون اللاجئين، ومنظمة الأمم المتحدة لرعاية الطفولة.

250. On 4 November 2007, the Secretariat-General received memorandum 438 from the Permanent Delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic to the League, welcoming the Secretary-General's proposal to launch a media campaign to help to alleviate the suffering of the Iraqi émigrés and the heavy burdens endured by their host States, particularly Syria and Jordan.
250 - كما تلقت الأمانة العامة مذكرة المندوبية الدائمة للجمهورية العربية السورية لدى الجامعة رقم 438 بتاريخ 4/11/2007 ترحب فيها باقتراح الأمين العام إطلاق حملة إعلامية للمساهمة في التخفيف من معاناة المهجرين العراقيين، وكذلك من الأعباء الثقيلة التي تتحملها الدول العربية المضيفة لهم وخاصة سورية والأردن.

254. On Friday, 11 January 2008, the Secretariat-General organized a media campaign to collect donations in support of Iraqi émigrés and displaced persons through the Arab Radio and Television network (ART) which commendably donated a full day's scheduling to this campaign, in which a number of other Arab satellite channels also took part.
254 - نظمت الأمانة العامة يوم الجمعة الموافق 11/1/2008 حملة إعلامية لجمع التبرعات لدعم المهجرين والنازحين العراقيين، وذلك من خلال راديو وتليفزيون العرب (ART) الذي تبرع مشكورا بتخصيص يوم كامل لهذه الحملة التي شارك فيها أيضا عدد من الفضائيات العربية الأخرى، على أن تبقى الحملة ممتدة لثلاثة أشهر بهدف جمع أكبر قدر من التبرعات الرسمية والأهلية.
