Recalling that at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development the international community had resolved to strive to achieve a land-degradation-neutral world while committing to monitor land degradation globally, the Permanent Representative deplored the lack of a dedicated focus area on desertification, land degradation and drought.
وإذ ذكّرت الممثلة الدائمة بأن المجتمع الدولي عقد العزم، في مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة، على العمل على إيجاد عالم خال من ظاهرة تدهور الأراضي مع الالتزام برصد تدهور الأراضي على الصعيد العالمي، أعربت عن الأسف لعدم وجود مجال تركيز مكرس للتصحر والأراضي التدهور والجفاف.

(a) Target 1. achieve a land-degradation-neutral world by 2030: To attain this, it is necessary to manage lands sustainably and regenerate those already degraded to make them fertile again;
(أ) الغاية 1 - إيجاد عالم خال من ظاهرة تدهور الأراضي بحلول عام 2030: لبلوغ هذه الغاية، لا بد من إدارة الأراضي بشكل مستدام واستصلاح ما تدهور منها بالفعل لاستعادة خصوبته؛

A. Background 43. In its resolution 68/213, the General Assembly recalled the outcome document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, entitled " The future we want " (resolution 66/288, annex), in which the Conference recognized the need for urgent action to reverse land degradation and, in view of that, to strive to achieve a land-degradation-neutral world in the context of sustainable development.
٤٣ - أشارت الجمعية العامة، في قرارها 68/213، إلى الوثيقة الختامية لمؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة المعنونة " المستقبل الذي نصبو إليه " (قرار الجمعية العامة 66/288)، التي أقر فيها المؤتمر بضرورة اتخاذ إجراءات عاجلة لعكس اتجاه تدهور الأراضي والعمل من هذا المنطلق على إيجاد عالم خال من ظاهرة تدهور الأراضي في سياق التنمية المستدامة.

Expresses its commitment to strive to achieve a land-degradation-neutral world in the context of sustainable development, and urges Member States to take urgent action to reverse desertification, land degradation and drought, as appropriate, with the assistance of the United Nations system, relevant regional and international organizations, multilateral agencies, major groups and other stakeholders;
