We believe that this Conference should be instrumental in keeping the international debate on a global ban on landmines on track, and it is encouraging to note that the problem of anti—personnel landmines is on the agenda of this session.

At the same time, we cannot refer to the priority theme on the agenda of this session without explicitly stating that the Federación, as part of Cuban civil society, has been witness to the protection that the Government and State of Cuba provide to the people in general to ensure that we Cubans fully enjoy all human rights without distinction or discrimination on any grounds.
وبالمثل فإننا لا يمكننا أن نشير إلى الموضوع ذي الأولوية في جدول أعمال هذه الدورة دون القول صراحة إن الاتحاد، وهو جزء من المجتمع المدني الكوبي، شاهد على الحماية التي تسبغها الحكومة والدولة في كوبا على المواطنين عامة، حتى يتمتعوا في كوبا بشكل تام بكل حقوق الإنسان دون تفرقة أو تمييز لأي سبب كان.
