Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, in recognition of the philosophy, vision and achievements of former President, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who worked tirelessly to preserve and protect the environment for future generations of his country, the region and the world.
وقد أسَّسها صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة رئيس مجلس وزراء وحاكم دبي، تقديراً لنهج ورؤى وإنجازات الرئيس السابق، الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان الذي سعى سعياً دؤوباً إلى المحافظة على البيئة وحمايتها من أجل الأجيال القادمة في بلده والمنطقة والعالم.

Today, the League of Arab States is an influential international organization that plays an important role in strengthening international security and stability. Its friendly and fruitful relations with the United Nations must, to a large extent, be attributed to the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
أما جامعة الدول العربية التي باتت اليوم منظمة دولية مؤثرة تؤدي دورا هاما في تعزيز الأمن والاستقرار، فإن علاقاتها الودية والمثمرة مع الأمم المتحدة، يجب أن تنسب، في جزء كبير منها، إلى جهود سمو الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان.
