Article 5 of the Convention calls on States parties to take all appropriate measures to modify the patterns of conduct of men and women " with a view to achieving the elimination of prejudices and customary and all other practices that are based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either of the sexes or on stereotyped roles for men and women " .
وتدعو الاتفاقية في مادتها 5 الدول الأطراف إلى أن تعتمد جميع التدابير المناسبة لتعديل أنماط سلوك الرجال والنساء، ' ' بهدف تحقيق القضاء على التحيزات والعادات العرفية وكل الممارسات الأخرى القائمة على الاعتقاد بكون أي من الجنسين أدنى أو أعلى من الآخر، أو على أدوار نمطية للرجل والمرأة``.

19. The obligation to protect requires States parties to take steps aimed directly at the elimination of prejudices, customary and all other practices that perpetuate the notion of inferiority or superiority of either of the sexes, and stereotyped roles for men and women.
19- الالتزام بتوفير الحماية يتطلب من الدول الأطراف اتخاذ خطوات تهدف بصورة مباشرة إلى القضاء على أوجه التحامل، والممارسات العرفية وجميع الممارسات الأخرى التي تؤدي إلى استمرار مفهوم الدونية أو السمو لدى كلا الجنسين، والأدوار المقولبة بالنسبة للرجل والمرأة.

85- تتخذ تركمانستان جميع التدابير المناسبة لتعديل الأنماط الاجتماعية والثقافية لسلوك الرجل والمرأة لتحقيق القضاء على التحيزات والعادات العرفية وكل الممارسات الأخرى القائمة على فكرة دونية أو تفوق أحد الجنسين أو على أدوار نمطية للرجل والمرأة.

24- ويقتضي القانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان من الدول أن تتخذ أيضاً تدابير للقضاء على الممارسات الثقافية والتقليدية الضارة وجميع الممارسات الأخرى القائمة على فكرة دونية أو تفوق أحد الجنسين، أو على أدوار نمطية للنساء والرجال.

بينما يقضي الالتزام بالحماية بأن توفر الدول الأطراف الحماية للمرأة من التمييز على يد جهات فاعلة خاصة، وأن تتخذ خطوات تهدف مباشرة إلى القضاء على الممارسات العرفية وسائر الممارسات التي تنحاز لمفهوم الدونية أو السمو لأي من الجنسين ولمفهوم الأدوار النمطية للرجل والمرأة، وتديم هذين المفهومين.
