Trinidad and Tobago supports the multilateral approach to addressing the international proliferation and development of weapons of mass destruction, which is the immediate priority, and the furtherance of arms regulations to achieve general and complete disarmament under strict international control for the following reasons:
تؤيد ترينيداد وتوباغو اتباع نهج تعددية الأطراف في معالجة مسألة انتشار وتطوير أسلحة الدمار الشامل على الصعيد الدولي، التي هي الأولوية العاجلة في هذا المجال، وتعزيز الأنظمة المتعلقة بالأسلحة وصولاً إلى تحقيق نزع السلاح العام الكامل في ظل رقابة دولية صارمة، وذلك للأسباب التالية:

Everybody looks forward to a world free of the notorious weapons of mass destruction, a world in which successive generations live in peace and security, not threatened with total extinction by some extremist countries and terrorist groups, a world in which there is an end to the feverish arms race and the production and development of weapons of mass destruction that target humankind and its diverse cultures and social backgrounds.

2. The concept of crime prevention should not be limited to conventional forms of crime, including domestic violence, but should encompass new forms of crime, such as organized crime, terrorism, illegal trafficking in migrants, computer and cybercrimes, environmental crime, corruption and illegal commerce related to the acquisition and development of weapons of mass destruction.
