The conventions on the suppression of slavery and the prohibition of the traffic in persons and exploitation of the prostitution of others unquestionably prohibit such acts, regardless of whether they are committed against women or children.

At the present session, the Subcommission will have before it the draft programme of action on the prevention of traffic in persons and exploitation of the prostitution of others, as revised by the Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery at its twentieth session (E/CN.4/Sub.2/1995/28/Add.1)
١٦٢- وسيعرض على اللجنة الفرعية في الدورة الحالية مشروع برنامج العمل لمنع الاتجار باﻷشخاص واستغلال بغاء الغير بصيغته المنقحة من جانب الفريق العامل المعني بأشكال الرق المعاصرة في دورته العشرين (E/CN.4/Sub.2/1995/28/Add.1).

4. Accordingly, it can be said that traffic in persons and exploitation of the prostitution of others is prohibited in Syrian law and does not exist in actual practice.
٤- وبناء عليه، يمكن القول بأن الاتجار باﻷشخاص واستغلال دعارة الغير من اﻷمور المحظورة في القانون السوري، ولا وجود لها في الممارسة الفعلية.

7. These practices are unquestionably subject to the provisions of the general conventions concerning the abolition of slavery, the slave trade and similar institutions and practices, as well as the conventions prohibiting the traffic in persons and exploitation of the prostitution of others, since the definitions of these acts cover practices relating to the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.
٧- ولا خلاف حول خضوع هذه الممارسات ﻷحكام الاتفاقيات العامة المتعلقة بإبطال الرق وتجارة الرقيق واﻷعراف والممارسات الشبيهة بالرق وتلك المتعلقة بحظر الاتجار باﻷشخاص واستغلال دعارة الغير. فالتعاريف الموضوعة لهذه اﻷعمال تشمل الممارسات المتعلقة ببيع اﻷطفال ودعارة اﻷطفال واستغلالهم في مواد الدعارة.
