The distinction between " career " and " fixed-term " appointments has traditionally been used to compare the number of staff who are on a " career track " , i.e., those who may be expected to serve the Organization for a substantial number of years, to those who will not remain beyond a limited number of years, after which they would leave the service of the Organization.
