In this regard, it is envisaged that the pace of the strategic dialogue mechanism between UNIFIL and the Lebanese army, which is aimed at facilitating the gradual assumption by the army of responsibility for security in the UNIFIL area of operations and Lebanese territorial waters, would accelerate during the 2012/13 period.

UNIFIL will work with the Lebanese Armed Forces to initiate a series of capability packages that, with the assistance of donors, would help the Lebanese Armed Forces gradually assume effective security control over the UNIFIL area of operations and Lebanese territorial waters as envisaged in my letter of 6 August 2009 addressed to the President of the Security Council (S/2009/407).

In line with the strategic priorities identified by the strategic review, UNIFIL continued to work closely with the Lebanese Armed Forces through the strategic dialogue with a view to increasing the capacity of the Lebanese Armed Forces, not only as a prerequisite for the gradual assumption of security control of the area of operations and Lebanese territorial waters, but also as a key element towards a permanent ceasefire.
35 - وواصلت القوة، وفق الأولويات الاستراتيجية المحددة في الاستعراض الاستراتيجي، العمل على نحو وثيق مع الجيش اللبناني من خلال إجراء الحوار الاستراتيجي سعيا لتعزيز قدرات الجيش اللبناني، ليس كمجرد شرط لتحقيق سيطرته التدريجية على منطقة العمليات والمياه الإقليمية اللبنانية فحسب، بل أيضا كعنصر أساسي للتوصل إلى وقف دائم لإطلاق النار.

37. 37 - وتمشيا مع الأولويات الاستراتيجية التي حددها الاستعراض الاستراتيجي، واصلت اليونيفيل العمل على نحو وثيق مع الجيش اللبناني من خلال الحوار الاستراتيجي بهدف تعزيز قدرات الجيش اللبناني، لا باعتبار ذلك شرطاً أساسياً لبسط السيطرة الأمنية تدريجياً على منطقة العمليات والمياه الإقليمية اللبنانية فحسب، وإنما أيضاً لدعم المضي نحو وقف دائم لإطلاق النار.
