5. Pursuant to Commission on Human Rights resolution 1997/12, the Secretary-General requested information from all States on changes in law and practice concerning the death penalty.

2. The quinquennial report on the changes in law and practice concerning the death penalty, prescribed in the resolution, is a welcome means of keeping the question on the international human rights agenda.

Further information on measures taken to protect the rights and interests of child victims of the acts prohibited under the Optional Protocol at all stages of the criminal justice process to ensure that they are not criminalized and, in particular, on the rules and practice concerning the protection of child victims who have to testify in criminal cases

1. In its resolution 1997/12 (paragraph 6) the Commission on Human Rights requested the Secretary-General to submit to the Commission a yearly supplement on changes in law and practice concerning the death penalty worldwide to his quinquennial report on capital punishment and implementation of the Safeguards guaranteeing the protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty.
١- طلبت لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان، في قرارها ٧٩٩١/٢١ )الفقرة ٦(، من اﻷمين العام أن يقدم إلى اللجنة ملحقا سنويا بشأن التغيرات التي حدثت في القوانين والممارسات المتعلقة بعقوبة اﻹعدام في شتى أنحاء العالم لتقريره الذي يقدم كل خمس سنوات عن عقوبة اﻹعدام وتنفيذ الضمانات التي تكفل حماية حقوق الذين يواجهون عقوبة اﻹعدام.

3. For the present supplemental report prepared by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and pursuant to Commission on Human Rights resolution 2005/59, States and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations were requested to provide information on changes in law and practice concerning the death penalty and implementation of the safeguards, as applicable.
3- وفيما يتعلق بهذا التقرير التكميلي الذي أعدته مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان، وعملاً بقرار لجنة حقوق الإنسان 2005/59، فقد طلبت اللجنة إلى الدول والمنظمات الحكومية الدولية والمنظمات غير الحكومية أن تقدم معلومات عما حدث من تغييرات في القوانين والممارسات المتعلقة بعقوبة الإعدام وتنفيذ الضمانات، حسب الاقتضاء.
