١٣ - وضع مؤتمر اﻷطراف في اجتماعه الثالث برنامج عمل لتعزيز اﻵثار اﻹيجابية )والتخفيف من حدة اﻵثار السلبية( التي تنطوي عليها الممارسات الزراعية بالنسبة للتنوع البيولوجي على صعيد النظام اﻹيكولوجي، وعلى حفظ الموارد الوراثية ذات القيمة الفعلية أو المحتملة ﻷغراض اﻷغذية والزراعة واستخدام هذه الموارد بشكل مستدام، وتقاسم المنافع العائدة من استخدام هذه الموارد على نحو منصف وعادل.

The Treaty is a new comprehensive international agreement. Its objective is to achieve the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture and the Fair and Equitable sharing of benefits derived from their use, in harmony with the Convention on Biodiversity, for food security and sustainable agriculture.
وتمثل هذه المعاهدة اتفاقا دوليا شاملا جديدا يرمي إلى حفظ الموارد الجينية النباتية للأغذية والزراعة واستخدامها على نحو مستدام، وتوخي العدل والإنصاف في تقاسم الفوائد المستمدة من استخدامها، بما يتماشى مع اتفاقية التنوع البيولوجي، وذلك من أجل تحقيق الأمن الغذائي والزراعة المستدامة.
