٤ - وقد أيدت الدول اﻟ ٥١ اﻷعضاء في الاتحاد اﻷوروبي قرار الجمعية العامة ١٥/٥٤ قاف، الذي حثت فيه الجمعية الدول على السعي بهمة إلى الانتهاء في أقرب وقت ممكن من المفاوضات المتعلقة بإبرام اتفاق دولي فعال وملزم قانونا لحظر استعمال وتخزين وإنتاج ونقل اﻷلغام اﻷرضية المضادة لﻷفراد.

However, in Turkey's view, an international instrument banning the use, stockpiling, production and transfer of anti-personnel landmines, including their operational use and transfer, as well as providing for their total elimination, must be the product of extensive negotiations encompassing both the humanitarian and security aspects of the subject.

His Government supported a global ban on the production, stockpiling, use and transfer of anti-personnel landmines and had unilaterally suspended the operational use of such mines. It had also announced a $12 million package of mine-clearance assistance over a three-year period to Cambodia and Laos.

That text has entered into force as the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and transfer of anti-personnel landmines and on Their Destruction.
