2. The present paper sets out the views of the Board of Auditors on the report of the Secretary-General on the hiring and use of consultants in the Secretariat (A/54/164) as requested by the General Assembly.

The Advisory Committee has examined the reports of the Secretary-General on the hiring and use of consultants in the Secretariat (A/54/164) and on consultants and individual contractors (A/C.5/54/4), which were submitted in accordance with section VIII, paragraphs 3 and 4 respectively, of General Assembly resolution 53/221.
