This Law defines a juvenile as any male or female under eighteen years old.
ويعرّف هذا القانون الحدَث بأنه كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يكمل الثامنة عشر من العمر.

According to article 1 of the Syrian Juveniles Act of 1974, a child is any male or female below 18 years of age.
حسب المادة 1 من قانون الأحداث السوري لعام 1974، فإن الطفل هو كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يكمل/ تكمل العام الثامن عشر من العمر.

33. Article 2 of the Labour Act No. 5 of 1995 defines a “child” as any male or female under 15 years of age.
٢٣- عرﱠف قانون العمل رقم ٥ لعام ٥٩٩١ في نص المادة ٢ الطفل بأنه كل ذكر أو انثى لم يبلغ الخامسة عشرة من العمر.

" Juvenile " means any male or female person under 12 years of age.

206. Under Syrian law, a juvenile is any male or female person under 18 years of age (Juvenile Delinquents Act, art. 1).
206- واعتبر القانون السوري الحدث كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يتم الثامنة عشرة من عمره (المادة 1 من قانون الأحداث الجانحين).

The Juveniles Act No. 3 of 1983 defines a juvenile as “any male or female under 18 years of age”.
عرﱠف القانون رقم ٣ لسنة ٣٨٩١ في شأن اﻷحداث الحدث بأنه " كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يبلغ من السن تمام السنة الثامنة عشر " .

A juvenile is defined as any male or female under 18 years of age (article 1 of the Act).
249- والحدث هو كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يتم الثامنة عشرة من عمره (المادة 1من القانون).

Article 1 of the Labour (Non-governmental Sector) Act No. 6/2010 defines an employee as any male or female who performs work for an employee in return for remuneration, thereby eliminating discrimination by virtue of including both sexes in the definition of an employee
القانون رقم 6/2010 بشأن العمل في القطاع الأهلي، حيث حدد في المادة الأولى بأن العامل هو كل ذكر أو أنثى يؤدي عملاً لمصلحة صاحب العمل وبمقابل أجر، حيث ألغى التمييز وجاء التعريف مخاطباً كليهما بالعامل.

66. The Juveniles Act No. 3 of 1983 also provides that a juvenile is any male or female under 18 years of age.
66- كما أن القانون رقم 3 لسنة 1983 في شأن الأحداث نص على أن الحدث هو كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يبلغ تمام السنة الثامنة عشر " .

Article 17 of the Private Sector Employment Act No. 38 of 1964 states that, for the purposes of the Act, a juvenile means “any male or female over 14 but under 18 years of age”.
كما أن المادة ٧١ من القانون رقم ٨٣ لسنة ٤٦٩١ في شأن العمل في القطاع اﻷهلي نصت على أن المقصود بالحدث في أحكام هذا القانون " كل ذكر أو أنثى بلغ الرابعة عشرة من عمره ولم يتجاوز الثامنة عشرة " .

This is made clear in article 2 of the Code, which reads as follows: " A worker means any male or female working for any form of remuneration in the service, and under the authority or supervision, of an employer. "
ويتضح ذلك من نص المادة الثانية في القانون المذكور وقد جاءت صيغتها مطلقة وكما يلي: " يقصد بالعامل كل ذكر أو أنثى يعمل، لقاء أجر مهما كان نوعه، في خدمة صاحب عمل وتحت سلطته أو إشرافه " .

38. On 30 December 2004, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour issued its Decree No. 1736, which defines a juvenile as any male or female individual who has not reached 18 years of age, and prohibits the employment of juveniles under 15 years of age in any kind of work whatever.
38- أصدرت وزارة الشؤون الاجتماعية والعمل القرار رقم 1736، بتاريخ 30 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2004،. الذي نص على أن الحدث هو كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يتم الثامنة عشرة من العمر، وعلى منع تشغيل الأحداث دون الخامسة عشرة في أي عمل كان وجواز تشغيل من هو دون الثامنة عشرة في الأعمال الإنتاجية.

99. On 30 December 2004, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour issued its Decree No. 1736, which defines a juvenile person as any male or female individual who has not reached 18 years of age, and prohibits the employment of juveniles under 15 years of age in any kind of work whatever.
99- أصدرت وزارة الشؤون الاجتماعية والعمل القرار رقم 1736 بتاريخ 30 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2004، الذي نص على أن الحدث هو كل ذكر أو أنثى لم يتم الثامنة عشرة من العمر؛ وعلى منع تشغيل الأحداث قبل تمام الخامسة عشرة في أي عمل كان وعلى السماح بتشغيل من هو دون الثامنة عشرة في الأعمال الإنتاجية.

28. Article 1 of the Act abjures gender-based discrimination by defining " worker " in an abstract manner as any male or female who performs mental or manual work for an employer in return for remuneration.
28- وتأكيداً على نبذ المشرع التمييز على أساس الجنس، فقد عرف القانون المشار إليه العامل تعريفاً مجرداً، فأدخل في هذا المفهوم كل ذكر أو أنثى يؤدي عملاً ذهنياً أو بدنياً لصالح صاحب العمل نظير أجر (م 1).

116. The Code provides a general and an abstract definition of a worker as follows: " A worker is any male or female who works for an employer in exchange for a wage of any kind. " This definition guarantees equality among workers, regardless of their nationality, religion, political beliefs or any other distinguishing feature.
116- عرف القانون العامل تعريفاً عاماً ومطلقاً: " العامل هو كل ذكر أو أنثى يعمل لقاء أجر مهما كان نوعه في خدمة صاحب العمل " ، وهذا التعريف يكفل تحقيق المساواة بين العمال أياً كانت جنسيتهم أو دياناتهم أو معتقداتهم السياسية أو غير ذلك من أسباب التمييز.

46. The 2004 Child Act defines a child as " any male or female under the age of 18 unless they attain puberty in accordance with the applicable law " .
47- عرّف قانون الطفل لسنة 2004 الطفل بأنه " كل ذكر أو أنثى دون الثامنة عشرة من العمر ما لم يبلغ سن الرشد بموجب القانون المنطبق عليه " .

This equality between men and women is also enshrined in the definition of " worker " contained in article 2 of the abovementioned Labour Act which stipulates that: " A worker shall be understood to mean any male or female working for any form of remuneration ... " .
