١ - طلبت الجمعية العامة، في القرار ٤٧/١٩١ الى المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي أن ينشئ، في دورته التنظيمية لعام ١٩٩٣، لجنة رفيعة المستوى معنية بالتنمية المستدامة، لتكون لجنة من اللجان الفنية للمجلس لكي تقوم في جملة أمور، بتأمين متابعة أعمال مؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة المعني بالبيئة والتنمية بصورة فعالة.

With regard to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), we welcome the establishment of the Commission on Sustainable Development as a functional commission of the Economic and Social Council.
