By resolution 1998/58, entitled “Situation of human rights in Haiti”, the Commission on Human Rights, inter alia, invited its independent expert, Mr. Adama Dieng, to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-fifth session on developments in the human rights situation in Haiti.
١- دعت لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان، ضمن جملة أمور، بموجب قرارها ٨٩٩١/٨٥ المعنون " حالة حقوق اﻹنسان في هايتي " ، خبيرها المستقل، السيد أداما ديانغ، إلى تقديم تقرير إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وإلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين عن التطورات في حالة حقوق اﻹنسان في هايتي.

At its substantive session of 1998, the Economic and Social Council endorsed the Commission’s decision to extend for a further year the mandate of the Special Representative of the Commission on the situation of human rights in Rwanda, and to request the Special Representative to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session (Council decision 1998/265).

At its substantive session of 1998, the Economic and Social Council endorsed the Commission’s decision to extend the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan for one year, and to request the Special Rapporteur to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session (Council decision 1998/267).

The joint working paper on article 7 of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (E/CN.4/Sub.2/1998/4) was submitted to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination at its fifty-third session and to the Subcommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities at its fiftieth session.
١١ - قُدمت ورقة العمل المشتركة بشأن المادة ٧ من الاتفاقية الدولية للقضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز العنصري )E/CN.4/Sub.2/1998/4( إلى لجنة القضاء على التمييز العنصري في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وإلى اللجنة الفرعية لمنع التمييز وحماية اﻷقليات في دورتها الخمسين.

(a) To extend the mandate of the Special Rapporteur for one year, and requests the Special Rapporteur to report on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-fifth session;

The Council also approves the Commission's requests to the Special Rapporteur to report to the Commission on the future need for human rights field officers, with the understanding that the Commission will, at its fifty-fifth session, reassess such need, and to report his findings and recommendations to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session and to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session.

Again requests the Secretary-General to designate the Centre for Human Rights as the focal point for the coordination of activities and the dissemination of information within the United Nations system for the suppression of contemporary forms of slavery and to report on the measures taken for that purpose to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-third session and to the Working Group at its twenty-second session;
١٦- ترجو مرة أخرى من اﻷمين العام أن يعيﱢن مركز حقوق اﻹنسان كجهة وصل، من أجل تنسيق اﻷنشطة ونشر المعلومات داخل منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة في سبيل القضاء على أشكال الرق المعاصرة، وأن يقدم تقريراً عن التدابير المتخذة لهذا الغرض إلى لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وإلى الفريق العامل في دورته الثانية والعشرين؛

13. Decides also to evaluate and review the functions and reporting procedures of the Office of Internal Oversight Services at its fifty-third session and to that end to include in the provisional agenda of that session an item entitled " Review of the implementation of resolution 48/ " .
١٣ - تقرر أيضا أن تقيم وتستعرض مهام مكتب خدمات اﻹشراف الداخلي واجراءاته الخاصة بتقديم التقارير في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وأن تدرج، تحقيقا لتلك الغاية، في جدول اﻷعمال المؤقت لتلك الدورة بنداً بعنوان " استعراض تنفيذ القرار ٤٨/ ــ " .
