As a result of the independent voting in the Security Council and in the General Assembly, the following four candidates have obtained an absolute majority in both organs: Mr. Ronny Abraham, Mr. Awn Shawkat Al-Khasawneh, Mr. Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade and Mr. Christopher Greenwood.

On 27 April 2012, the Security Council, at its 6763rd meeting, and the General Assembly, at the 107th plenary meeting of its sixtysixth session, elected Mr. Dalveer Bhandari, of India, to the International Court of Justice to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Awn Shawkat AlKhasawneh, of Jordan.
انتخب مجلس الأمن، في جلسته 6763، المعقودة في 27 نيسان/أبريل 2012، والجمعية العامة، في جلستها العامة 107 من دورتها السادسة والستين المعقودة في التاريخ ذاته، السيد دالفير بهانداري من الهند لملء شاغر في محكمة العدل الدولية ناجم عن استقالة القاضي عون شوكت الخصاونة من الأردن.

Therefore, Ronny Abraham (France), Awn Shawkat Al-Khasawneh (Jordan), Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade (Brazil) and Christopher Greenwood (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) were elected members of the International Court of Justice for a term of office of nine years, beginning on 6 February 2009.
