His delegation appreciated the efforts of the Secretary-General to reduce the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs and the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council, because they were both useful sources of data on the implementation of the Charter.

During the period under review, the Secretariat continued its efforts to reduce the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs, as well as of the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 59/44 of 2 December 2004.

By that resolution, the General Assembly would, inter alia, commend the Secretary-General for his continued efforts to reduce the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs, and endorse his efforts to eliminate the backlog in the publication of the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council.

8. The European Union thanked the Secretary-General for his work to reduce the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs and the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council, which it considered to be of great importance in relation to the implementation of the Charter of the United Nations and the activities undertaken by the organs of the Organization.

The establishment of a Sixth Committee Working Group was helpful. His delegation hailed the tireless efforts of the Secretary-General to reduce the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs and the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council.

35. During the period under review, the Secretariat continued its efforts to reduce the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs, as well as of the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 57/24 of 19 November 2002.
35 - خلال الفترة قيد الاستعراض، واصلت الأمانة العامة جهودها الرامية إلى التقليل من التأخر في إصدار مرجع ممارسات هيئات الأمم المتحدة، وكذلك مرجع ممارسات مجلس الأمن، وفقا لقرار الجمعية العامة 57/24 المؤرخ 19 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2002.

The Secretary-General would be further requested to implement vigorously the plan to eliminate the backlog in the publication of the United Nations Treaty Series and to bring the resolution to the attention of States, international organizations and institutions working in the field of international law.

He appreciated the ongoing efforts of the Secretary-General to eliminate the backlog in the publication of the Repertory of Practice of United Nations Organs and the Repertoire of the Practice of the Security Council, in which respect he endorsed the encouragement of voluntary contributions to the Trust Funds established for that purpose.

The General Assembly had approved a plan in December 1980 to eliminate the backlog in the publication of the United Nations Treaty Series by December 1988, which was extended to 1989 and again to 1995.
