Must we again in this day of humanitarian ethics, this day of the sacred principles of the equality of mankind and the rights of men and women, this day that has seen us assemble here to save, enhance and prolong life, become victims of callous racial neglect? We of Africa protest that in this day and age we should continue to be treated as lesser human beings than other races.
أينبغي لنا مرة أخرى في يوم الأخلاق الإنسانية هذا، يوم المبادئ المقدسة المتمثلة في المساواة بين البشر وحقوق الرجال والنساء، هذا اليوم الذي شهد تجمعنا هنا لننقذ الحياة ونعززها ونطيلها، أن نصبح ضحايا التجاهل العنصري القاسي؟ إننا نحن الأفارقة نحتج على استمرار معاملتنا في هذا اليوم وهذا العصر كبشر أقل درجة من الأجناس الأخرى.

It is these unfortunate persons, living at the edge of life, who become easy prey for recruitment by callous persons determined to cause havoc and mayhem in societies through terrorist activities.
أليس من المحزن إذن أن يعيش ملايين البشر تحت خط الفقر فيما يُنفق 1.3 تريليون دولار على سوق الدفاع العالمي في عام 2007؟ هؤلاء الأشخاص تعيسو الحظ، العائشون على هامش الحياة، هم الفريسة السهلة للأشرار الذين يجندونهم لإيقاع الأضرار وإحداث التخريب في داخل المجتمعات عن طريق الأنشطة الإرهابية.
