The present report is submitted pursuant to Security Council resolution 1492 (2003) of 18 July 2003, in which the Council approved my recommendation for adjusting the drawdown plan of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) and requested me to report at regular intervals on each phase of the drawdown and on the progress made with respect to the benchmarks that should guide the withdrawal of the Mission.
