4. At the 60th meeting, on 17 June, the Committee had before it a draft resolution entitled " Relationship between the treatment of perennial activities in the programme budget and the use of the contingency fund " (A/C.5/56/L.63), which had been coordinated by the representative of Ukraine and Vice-Chairman of the Committee.

1. The Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions has considered the report of the Secretary-General of 9 March 1998 on the relationship between the treatment of perennial activities in the programme budget and the use of the contingency fund.1 In the course of its deliberations, the Advisory Committee met with representatives of the Secretary-General, who provided additional information.
1 - نظرت اللجنة الاستشارية لشؤون الإدارة والميزانية في تقرير الأمين العام المؤرخ 9 آذار/مارس 1998(1) عن العلاقة بين معالجة الأنشطة الدائمة في الميزانية البرنامجية واستخدام صندوق الطوارئ. وفي أثناء المداولات، اجتمعت اللجنة الاستشارية مع ممثلي الأمين العام الذين قدموا معلومات إضافية عن المسائل الجاري النظر فيها.

6. The Advisory Committee was informed, upon request, that resources for mandated activities have been budgeted in accordance with the criteria contained in the Secretary-General's report on the relationship between the treatment of perennial activities in the programme budget and the use of the contingency fund (A/C.5/52/42) and in the relevant report of the Advisory Committee (A/53/7/Add.9).
