The CHAIRMAN drew attention to rule 103 of the rules of procedure of the General Assembly and informed the Committee that the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Group of Western European and Other States, respectively, had nominated Ms. Nazareth A. Incera (Costa Rica) and Ms. Erica-Irene Daes (Greece) for the posts of Vice-Chairmen.

12. With regard to the composition of the Committee, he referred to paragraph 5 of General Assembly resolution 2819 (XXVI) of 15 December 1971 and recalled that the Committee’s composition had remained unchanged, except for some changes in 1973 and 1976 to fill vacancies caused by the withdrawal of members from the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Group of African States.

The Chairman said that the Group of African States, the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Group of Western European and Other States had nominated, respectively, Mr. Abdelmannan (Sudan), Mr. Fermín (Dominican Republic) and Mr. Råsbrant (Sweden) for the posts of ViceChairpersons and the Group of Asian States had nominated Mr. Chuasoto (Philippines) for the post of Rapporteur.
