Accordingly, the " cash collateral " associated with the letters of credit covering the prioritized contracts remained in the United Nations Iraq Account until the contracted goods were delivered in full and payments made to the suppliers.

On the credit issue, the report noted that the issuance of letters of credit could be accelerated, in theory, if they could be issued before the necessary cash collateral was available in the United Nations Iraq Account.

9. The Secretariat agreed to review the 32 letters of credit with an approximate value $17 million for which there are documents pending with the Bank to determine whether they could be cancelled and whether the associated cash collateral could be released from the collateral portion to the non-collateral portion of the United Nations Iraq Account.

Accordingly, the cash collateral associated with the outstanding letters of credit remains in the United Nations escrow (Iraq) accounts until the contracted goods or services are delivered and paid for.

وبإلغاء خطابات الضمان، أفرج عن جزء الضمانات النقدية المناظرة بتحويلها إلى الجزء غير المتعلق بالضمانات في حسابات الضمان التابعة للأمم المتحدة (العراق) وألغيت الالتزامات غير المصفاة وفقا لذلك.

Should authentication documents not be received by 30 November 2005, the letters of credit will be closed and the associated cash collateral released for transfer to the Development Fund for Iraq, in accordance with paragraph 17 of resolution 1483 (2003).
