Intimidating instances of intolerance and acts of coercion, motivated by extremism -- religious or otherwise -- only serve to stigmatize groups and peoples belonging to certain religions and constitute clear expressions of incitement to hatred, thereby legitimizing discrimination against them and consequently impairing their enjoyment of the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
