وأقرَّت الجمعية العامة البيان التالي: " إن القضاء على الفقر هو أعظم التحديات التي يواجهها العالم في الوقت الراهن وشرط لا غنى عنه لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة " (18).

We recall and reaffirm the statement made by world leaders in the outcome document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, " The future we want " , that poverty eradication is the greatest global challenge facing the world today and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.
٢٠٤ - نشير إلى البيان الذي قدّمه قادة العالم في الوثيقة الختامية لمؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة المعنونة " المستقبل الذي نصبو إليه " ، والذي جاء فيه أن القضاء على الفقر هو أعظم التحديات التي يواجهها العالم في الوقت الراهن وشرط لا غنى عنه لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، ونعيد تأكيد ذلك البيان.

8. At the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012, the Heads of State and Government affirmed that poverty eradication is the greatest global challenge facing the world today and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.
