Following the second adequacy report on climate observations commissioned by the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the Convention was prepared and approved by the Conference in 2004.

The COP, by its decision 5/CP.10, expressed its appreciation to the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) for preparing the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC.
49- وأعرب مؤتمر الأطراف، في مقرره 5/م أ-10، عن تقديره للنظام العالمي لمراقبة المناخ على إعداده خطة تنفيذ النظام العالمي لمراقبة المناخ دعماً لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ.

The SBSTA agreed to consider the reports referred to in paragraphs 100 and 101 above in the context of its consideration of the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC at its twenty-third session (December 2005).

Background: At its thirtieth session, the SBSTA considered the report on progress with the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC (hereinafter referred to as the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) implementation plan).

Background: The COP, by its decision 5/CP.10, requested the secretariat of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) to provide information to the SBSTA on how the actions identified in the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC are being implemented.

The SBSTA expressed its appreciation for the report on progress with the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC (hereinafter referred to as the GCOS implementation plan) prepared by the secretariat of GCOS under the guidance of the GCOS Steering Committee, and for the synthesis report on national information on systematic observations for climate.
54- وأعربت الهيئة الفرعية عن تقديرها للتقرير المتعلق بالتقدم المحرز في خطة تنفيذ النظام العالمي لرصد المناخ دعماً لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ (المشار إليها فيما يلي باسم خطة تنفيذ النظام العالمي لرصد المناخ)، التي أعدتها أمانة النظام العالمي لرصد المناخ تحت إشراف اللجنة التوجيهية لهذا لنظام، وعن تقديرها للتقرير التوليفي للمعلومات الوطنية بشأن عمليات الرصد المنهجي للمناخ().

The SBSTA welcomed the Update of the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC (hereinafter referred to as the 2010 updated GCOS implementation plan), submitted by the secretariat of GCOS and prepared under the guidance of the GCOS Steering Committee.
39- ورحبت الهيئة الفرعية بالخطة المحدثة لتنفيذ النظام العالمي لمراقبة المناخ دعماً لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ (يشار إليها أدناه بخطة عام 2010 المحدثة لتنفيذ النظام العالمي لمراقبة المناخ)()، التي قدمتها أمانة النظام العالمي لمراقبة المناخ وأُعدّت بتوجيه من اللجنة التوجيهية للنظام العالمي لمراقبة المناخ().

Requests Parties to review The Second Report on the Adequacy of the Global Observing Systems for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC (second adequacy report) within the context of their national capabilities and to consider what actions they can take individually, bilaterally, multilaterally and through coordinated international programmes to address the findings, noting, in particular:
1- يطلب من الأطراف استعراض التقرير الثاني عن مدى كفاية النظم العالمية لمراقبة المناخ دعماً لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ (التقرير الثاني عن مدى الكفاية) في سياق قدراتها الوطنية، والنظر في ما يمكنها اتخاذه من إجراءات بشكل فردي أو ثنائي أو متعدد الأطراف ومن خلال برامج دولية منسَّقة لتناول ما توصل إليه من استنتاجات، مع ملاحظة ما يلي بشكل خاص:

Within GCOS, the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (GCOS report No. 107, of September 2006) was developed by ICSU, UNEP, IOC and WMO.
16- في إطار النظام العالمي لرصد المناخ، قام كلّ من المجلس الدولي للاتحادات العلمية واليونيب واللجنة الدولية الحكومية لعلوم المحيطات والمنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية بوضع خطة تنفيذ النظام العالمي لرصد المناخ دعما لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغيّر المناخ (انظر تقرير النظام العالمي لرصد المناخ رقم 107، الصادر في أيلول/سبتمبر 2006).

The provisional " Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC " (2010 update) was submitted to the fifteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Copenhagen in December 2009, for further review and completion.
