At that session, the Assembly invited Member States to communicate to the Secretary-General their views and suggestions on verification principles, procedures and techniques for promoting the inclusion of adequate verification in arms limitation and disarmament agreements and on the role of the United Nations in the field of verification (resolution 40/152 O).
وفي تلك الدورة، دعت الجمعية العامة الدول الأعضاء إلى أن تقوم بإبلاغ الأمين العام بآرائها واقتراحاتها بشأن مبادئ التحقق وإجراءاته وتقنياته بغية التشجيع على إدراج أحكام تتعلق بالتحقق الملائم في اتفاقات الحد من الأسلحـــــة ونزع السلاح، وبشأن دور الأمم المتحدة في ميدان التحقق (القرار 40/152 سين).

The General Assembly, in its resolution 51/55 of 10 December 1996, requested all States and relevant international organizations to communicate to the Secretary-General their views on the maintenance of international security – prevention of the violent disintegration of States and decided to consider the subject at its fifty-third session.
١ - طلبت الجمعيـة العامـة إلى جميع الدول والمنظمات الدولية ذات الصلة، في قرارها ٥١/٥٥ المؤرخ ١٠ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٦، أن تحيل إلى اﻷمين العام آراءها بشأن صون اﻷمن الدولي - منع تفكك الدول عن طريق العنف، وقررت أن تنظر في هذا الموضوع في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين.
