The Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict establishes a ban on compulsory recruitment below 18 years of age and calls on States parties to prevent the direct participation in hostilities of persons below that age.

E. Enforced or compulsory recruitment

The first concerns the involvement of children in armed conflict and prohibits the compulsory recruitment or use in hostilities of persons under 18 by Governments or non-governmental armed groups.
ويتعلق البروتوكول الأول باشتراك الأطفال في الصراعات المسلحة ويحظر على الحكومات أو المجموعات المسلحة غير الحكومية التجنيد الإجباري للأشخاص الذين لم يبلغوا 18 سنة من العمر أو استخدامهم في الأعمال الحربية.

The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict, which has been ratified by 63 States, sets an age-limit of 18 for compulsory recruitment and participation in hostilities and a minimum age of 16 for voluntary recruitment.
فالبروتوكول الاختياري لاتفاقية حقوق الطفل، المتعلق بإشراك الأطفال في الصراعات المسلحة، الذي صدقت عليه 63 دولة، يحدد سن التجنيد الإجباري والمشاركة في أعمال القتال بـ 18 عاما، كما يحدد السن الأدنى للتجنيد الاختياري بـ 16 عاما.
