At its eighth session, the SBI, after considering the information contained in FCCC/SBI/1998/4, made a number of recommendations that require the approval of the Conference of the Parties at its fourth session (COP 4), including one pertaining to the revision of the indicative scale of contributions to the core budget of the Convention.

79. After considering the information presented by the Tribunal pursuant to financial regulation 12.1, regarding the appointment of an auditor for the financial periods 2005-2006 and 2007-2008, the fifteenth Meeting of States Parties appointed BDO Deutsche Warentreuhand (see SPLOS/135, para. 33).

In considering the information presented by the Secretariat, the Implementation Committee expressed uncertainty about the status of member states States of the European Community that had not ratified the Beijing Amendment and suggested three scenarios that the Meeting of the Parties could consider for dealing with those Sstates.
