I would, however, like to reiterate our response to some of the more glaring examples of distortion and misrepresentation in the aforesaid statement of the Greek Cypriot delegate, in order to put the facts on record:

وقد زعم المندوب القبرصي اليوناني أن المدرسة القبرصية اليونانية المذكورة آنفا تعرضت " للتهديد " والطرد من جانب السلطات القبرصية التركية.

I wish to point out at the outset that the groundless allegations and hypocritical arguments advanced by the Greek Cypriot delegate at the said meeting are a tiresome repetition of those he made last year.
وأود أن أشير في البداية الى أن الاتهامات التي لا أساس لها من الصحة والحجج الزائفة التي ساقها المندوب القبرصي اليوناني في الجلسة المذكورة ما هي إلا تكرار ممل للاتهامات والحجج التي ذكرها المندوب في السنة الماضية.

The Greek Cypriot delegate's remarks concerning the economic situation in Northern Cyprus, on the other hand, are the epitome of hypocrisy.
وملاحظات الوفد القبرصي اليوناني فيما يتعلق بالحالة الاقتصادية في قبرص الشمالية، من ناحية أخرى، مثال للنفاق.

As President of the Turkish Cypriot Women's Association, I am writing to express our profound indignation at the remarks made by the Greek Cypriot delegate at the thirty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women recently held at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
أكتب إليكم ﻷعرب عن بالغ سخطي، بوصفي رئيسة رابطة المرأة القبرصة التركية، إزاء الملاحظات التي أدلت بها المندوبة القبرصية اليونانية في الدورة التاسعة والثلاثين للجنة مركز المرأة، والتي عقدت مؤخرا في مقر اﻷمم المتحدة بنيويورك.

In view of the absence of any Turkish Cypriot delegate at the said meeting owing to the usurpation and continued monopolization of the title of " Government of Cyprus " by the Greek Cypriot side since 1963, I am compelled to respond to these allegations in writing in order to set the record straight.
وبالنظر إلى عدم وجود أي وفد قبرصي تركي في الاجتماع المذكور بسبب اغتصاب الجانب القبرصي اليوناني لصفة " حكومة قبرص " واستمرار احتكاره له منذ عام ١٩٦٣، فإنني مضطر للرد على هذه المزاعم كتابة لتستقيم اﻷمور.

2. The Greek Cypriot delegate's portrayal of the Turkish Cypriot people as an " ethnic community manipulated by external interference " adds insult to injury.
٢ - إن تصوير المندوب القبرصي اليوناني للشعب القبرصي التركي على أنه " طائفة عرقية تستغلها قوى التدخل الخارجي " هو إهانة تضاف الى اﻷذى.

It is indeed ironic that, at a time when his own leader is actively seeking further interference and inviting manipulation by Greece in Cyprus, the Greek Cypriot delegate at the Third Committee should have the audacity to complain about alleged " external interference and manipulation " of the Turkish Cypriots by Turkey.
ومما يثير السخرية حقا أنه في الوقت الذي يسعى فيه زعيم القبارصة اليونانيين الى مزيد من التدخل والاستغلال من جانب اليونان في قبرص، فإن المندوب القبرصي اليوناني كان من الوقاحة بحيث اشتكى في اللجنة الثالثة من " التدخل الخارجي والاستغلال " المزعومين من جانب تركيا للقبارصة اﻷتراك.

3. The Greek Cypriot delegate's allegations that " Cyprus is a victim of foreign invasion and occupation " and that " its people are not allowed to freely express their aspirations " are equally ludicrous and totally misdirected.
٣ - كما أن ادعاءات المندوب القبرصي اليوناني بأن " قبرص هي ضحية للغزو والاحتلال اﻷجنبي " وأن " شعبها غير مسموح له بالتعبير بحرية عن آماله " هي ادعاءات مثيرة للسخرية بنفس القدر وفي غير محلها.

As it has become habitual practice for the Greek Cypriot administration, the Greek Cypriot delegate has again seized this opportunity to demonstrate his side's deep-seated hostility towards the Turkish Cypriot people and its utter disregard for Turkish Cypriot rights.
كما أصبح من الممارسات المألوفة لدى اﻹدارة القبرصية اليونانية، انتهز المندوب القبرصي اليوناني هذه الفرصة ليظهر العداوة الدفينة للجانب الذي ينتمي اليه إزاء الشعب القبرصي التركي واستهتاره التام بحقوق القبارصة اﻷتراك.

The Greek Cypriot delegate has also referred in his letter to the recent judgement of the European Court of Human Rights on the fourth application of the Greek Cypriot administration in an attempt to attribute responsibility to Turkey for the actions of the Government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
وأشار المندوب القبرصي اليوناني أيضا في رسالته إلى الحكم الصادر عن المحكمة الأوروبية لحقوق الإنسان في الطلب الرابع المقدم من الإدارة القبرصية التركية في محاولة لتحميل تركيا مسؤولية الإجراءات التي تتخذها الجمهورية التركية لشمال قبرص.

In his statement, the Greek Cypriot delegate, in an obvious attempt to cover up the Greek Cypriot side's exclusive responsibility for the existing division of the island, has once again described the legitimate military presence of a guarantor Power as an " occupation " .
وفي بيانه، قام المندوب القبرصي اليوناني مرة أخرى، في محاولة جلية للتغطية على المسؤولية الخالصة للجانب القبرصي اليوناني عن التقسيم الراهن للجزيرة، بوصف الوجود العسكري الشرعي ﻹحدى الدول الضامنة بأنه " احتلال " .

In this spirit, I strongly protest the aforementioned remarks made by the Greek Cypriot delegate in the Second Committee as yet another manifestation of ill intent, insincerity and intransigence on the part of the Greek Cypriot side.
ومن هذا المنطلق، احتج بشدة على الملاحظات السالفة الذكر التي أدلى بها الوفد القبرصي اليوناني في اللجنة الثانية باعتبارها أيضا دليلا آخر على سوء النية، وعدم اﻹخلاص والتعنت من الجانب القبرصي اليوناني.

I would like to reiterate our considered position on this matter and also respond to some of the other issues raised by the Greek Cypriot delegate in his above-mentioned letter of 17 April 2002.
وأود أن أؤكد مجددا موقفنا المدروس من هذه المسألة وأن أرد على بعض النقاط التي أثارها ممثل القبارصة اليونانيين في رسالته المذكورة آنفا والمؤرخة 17 نيسان/أبريل 2002.
