The current Independent Expert, Virginia B. Dandan, was appointed by the Human Rights Council in August 2011.
أما الخبيرة المستقلة الحالية، فيرجينيا ب. داندان فقد عينها مجلس حقوق الإنسان في آب/أغسطس 2011.

1. The Human Rights Council appointed Virginia Dandan as the Independent Expert on human rights and international solidarity, effective 1 August 2011.
1- عيّن مجلس حقوق الإنسان السيدة فرجينيا داندان خبيرةً مستقلةً معنيةً بحقوق الإنسان والتضامن الدولي اعتباراً من 1 آب/أغسطس 2011.

Virginia Dandan emphasized the need to respect indigenous cultures, while at the same time encouraging all indigenous persons, particularly women and youth, to speak up.
وشددت فيرجينيا داندان على الحاجة إلى احترام ثقافات الشعوب الأصلية، وتشجيع جميع السكان الأصلين في الوقت نفسه، لا سيما النساء والشباب، على إبداء رأيهم.

32. Ms. Dandan stated that the answer to questions lay in action, through the integration of human rights into policies and monitoring political responsibility.
32- وقالت السيدة داندان إن الإجابة على الأسئلة تكمن في اتخاذ إجراءات، من خلال دمج حقوق الإنسان في السياسات ورصد المسؤولية السياسية.

The new independent expert, Virginia Dandan, appointed by the Council at its seventeenth session, will present an oral report at the eighteenth session.
وستقوم الخبيرة المستقلة الجديدة فيرجينيا داندان التي عيّنها المجلس في دورته السابعة عشرة بتقديم تقرير شفوي في الدورة الثامنة عشرة.

Dandan dropped out of school after having completed secondary school. She remained at home for several months and enrolled in a nursing school only upon the encouragement and assistance of Thin and High.
وقد تركت داندان الدراسة بعد إكمال المرحلة الثانوية، وبقيت في المنزل لعدة أشهر ولم تُقدم على الالتحاق بإحدى كليات التمريض إلا بعد تشجيع المنظمة لها.

4. Ms. Virginia Dandan was elected Chairperson-Rapporteur by acclamation.
