By operative paragraph 10 of the resolution, the General Assembly decided to focus the debates in the Sixth Committee, without prejudice to the consideration of the item as a whole, on the following sub-topics:

In paragraph 2 of that resolution, the Assembly encouraged the Commission to complete its work on the topic " State responsibility " during its fifty-third session, taking into account the views expressed by Governments during the debates in the Sixth Committee at the fifty-fifth session of the General Assembly, and any written comments that might be submitted by 31 January 2001, as requested by the Commission.
وفي الفقرة 2 من ذلك القرار شجعت الجمعية اللجنة على إتمام أعمالها بشأن مسؤولية الدول أثناء دورتها الثالثة والخمسين، واضعة في الاعتبار الآراء التي أعربت عنها الحكومات خلال مناقشات اللجنة السادسة في الدورة الخامسة والخمسين للجمعية العامة، وأية تعليقات خطية تقدم في موعد غايته 31 كانون الثاني/يناير 2001.
