In response to recommendation No. 50 which draws attention to reform of the judicial and prison system, the Directorate of Human Rights and International Relations within the Ministry of Justice has recruited, with the assistance of UNDP, an international consultant charged with carrying out a study into the criminal justice system, with the following main objectives:

Prior to the adoption of the Act, in May 2012, with the support of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Directorate of Human Rights and International Relations within the Ministry of Justice organized a workshop to evaluate the conformity of the 2008 Act with the Paris Principles.
