6.15 The objective of this subprogramme is the efficient and timely issuance of documentation and other written materials reflecting high-quality editing and translation.

The issuance of these guidelines resulted in the submission by States parties of more concise and focused follow-up reports, which have facilitated the assessment of the implementation of the relevant recommendations and resulted in a reduction of editing and translation costs.

The internal publication and documentation monitoring system, which was established by ESCWA in early 2004, aims not only to ensure 100 per cent issuance in Arabic of all the Commission's documents and publications, but also to monitor the workload in conference services and assess the impact of editing and translation requirements vis-à-vis the timeliness in completing manuscripts.
