28. The Mission's current air and road transportation assets, including contingent-owned equipment, would not be sufficient to support the deployment of and to sustain troops and observers outside Bangui, as well as to transport electoral materials and equipment to and from six provincial sites, 69 sous- préfectures and selected polling stations.
٢٨ - لن تكون معدات النقل الجوي والبري المتوفرة حاليا لدى بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى، بما فيها المعدات المملوكة للوحدات، كافية لدعم عمليات نشر وإمداد القوات والمراقبين خارج بانغي، فضلا عن نقل المواد والمعدات الانتخابية إلى المواقع اﻹقليمية الستة، والمقاطعات الفرعية البالغ عددها ٦٩ مقاطعة، ومراكز الاقتراع المختارة، ثم استرجاع هذه المواد والمعدات من تلك اﻷماكن.

Subsequently, with the adoption of Security Council resolution 1201 (1998) of 15 October 1998, the mandate of MINURCA was extended to include the transport of electoral materials and equipment to and from selected sites, ensuring the security of materials and of international election observers, and the conduct of a limited but reliable international observation of the two rounds of elections.
وفي وقت لاحق، وبعد أن اتخذ مجلس اﻷمن قراره ١٢٠١ )١٩٩٨(، المؤرخ ١٥ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨، وسعت ولاية بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة في جمهورية افريقيا الوسطى لتشمل نقل المواد والمعدات الانتخابية إلى مواقع مختارة، وكفالة أمن المواد والمعدات الانتخابية وأمن مراقبي الانتخابات الدوليين، وإجراء مراقبة دولية محدودة، ولكن موثوقا بها، للجولتين اﻷولى والثانية من الانتخابات التشريعية.
