43. At the 6th meeting, on 20 September 2006, Ms. Ertürk and Ms. Huda responded to questions and made their concluding remarks.

United Nations action on that front had included the appointment of Ms. Yakin Ertürk as Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences.

Ms. Ertürk referred to counter-terrorism measures that use gender stereotypes as a proxy for profiling on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin or religion.

28. Apart from this input, in the interest of further understanding specific challenges facing indigenous women, the Special Rapporteur participated in the Regional Consultation on " Violence against Indigenous Women in Asia Pacific " with the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, Yakin Ertürk.
